The Club arranges occasional visits to local places of interest, as well as longer breaks away in Britain and the Continent.  There is usually a walk followed by a pub lunch every month.  Full information about these activities can be found in the latest issue of the Newsletter but the principal details of upcoming events are listed here.

Please note that all Application Forms in the Newsletter are restricted to HELC Members only.

29 April to 3 May 2018 - Norfolk Visit

We are staying for 5 days/4 nights near King's Lynn at Knights Hill Hotel & Spa. This trip organised by Peter & Shirley Greatrex through Cannon Travel, will include trips each day, hopefully catering for everyone’s interests.  Provisional details and booking form in the September HELC Newsletter.

Cost approx. £509pp (single person supplement £60pp); there are 46 confirmed bookings for this trip for which a deposit of £50 per person has been paid and passed on to Cannon Travel Ltd.  The balance will be required in March 2018.  Details for this payment will be given in the March Newsletter, together with the arrangements for PICKUPS.

24 – 28 September 2018 - Portsmouth and Southsea

For our Autumn Break this year we shall be staying at the Best Western 3 star Royal Beach Hotel situated on the sea front at St. Helen’s Parade, Southsea. Quintessentially Victorian, this fabulous hotel, with magnificent views over the Solent, is draped in history and splendour.  The main planned outing is to the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, which is a fascinating attraction with HMS Warrior, HMS Victory, Mary Rose and the Royal Naval Museum. This will be an all day visit to the Dockyard attractions and the Spinnaker tower, with some behind the scenes guided tours. Various other trips are being planned.

Further details and booking form are in the March HELC Newsletter. We expect demand for this trip to be high, so you are advised to book early to avoid disappointment: please book by 31 March with a deposit of £50.00 per person.  For more information  contact Ian Reeve, Ian.Reeve@helc.org.uk.

Various ideas are being pursued.  Please look out for more information in future Newsletters.
